Christmas Concerts

Votre texte de paragraphe (1)
As every year, the Canta Vivace Choir is delighted to invite you to its two Christmas concerts in 2025.

The program includes traditional Christmas carols in english, arranged by Sir John Rutter, or in french, arranged by our choir director, Vicky O’Neill.

We'll also perform Joseph Haydn’s Missa Brevis, a very short mass whose classical sounds blend beautifully with the Christmas spirit.

We'll also sing the ballad “The Lily and the Rose” by Bob Chilcott, as well as the lullaby “The Seal Lullaby,” a masterpiece of gentleness and subtle harmonies.

And, still in Christmas spirit, you'll hear the famous “Walking in the Air,” which is none other than the music from the animated film “The Snowman.” This song recounts the magical walk through the air of the child and his new friend, the Snowman.

Autumn concert

Welcome to the Autumn Concert of the Canta Vivace Choir.

The program features sacred music works never before performed in the region: Rheinberger's Stabat Mater, Ola Gjeilo's Dark and Luminous Night, Buxtehude's Alleluia, and more.

As well as John Rutter's Gaelic Blessing, and various short and varied pieces, with a small preview of our upcoming Christmas concerts.

Rheinberger's Stabat Mater is poignantly moving, in an intimate atmosphere conducive to contemplation.

Ola Gjeilo's Dark and Luminous Night is a surprising work with rich polyphony, often in eight overlapping voices. While the first part is sometimes somber, the second is brilliant and voluble.

As for Buxtehude's Alleluia, it is a virtuoso sequence of the 4 voices of the choir, in a varied superposition of brilliant vocalises on "Alleluia". A treat to sing and listen to!
